Nick, is there any news about your car. You were making great progress and I was curious how things are going.

Reason I haven't posted anything is that all we've been doing lately is sanding, sanding, sanding. And all that sanding doesn't make for very sexy photos.

Update as of today:
- Car is primed, and undergoing block sanding. This will probably take all this week.
- Painting is scheduled for this coming Friday. i'm going to try to get off work early so I can go over and watch.
- Car will come back to the shop where we'll mask it all off and paint the engine compartment
- We then spend a week color sanding it.

I'll have more updates and pictures when we get into the painting phase. Looks like I'll probably have the car back at my house by the end of May.

Harold mainly concentrates on the body work and Dawn and I do all the paint prep and sanding. I think with block sanding we'll do some of that, but mostly it'll be Harold. Then for color sanding, we'll do very little and Harold will do most of it. It has to do more with our availability than anything else. Keep in mind we work day jobs, then go over and help out with the car for a couple of hours once or twice a week.

Some pics from tonight...

Me prepping one of the doors:

The car is primed for the most part, but still requires more block sanding:

Just for reference it takes me about 12 hours to color sand a 240 depending on how the paint is. Less if it comes out really good.

Oh I know... we're in it for the long haul my friend. It's called "death of a thousand cuts"

Nice, Nick! You're making quick progress now and that's awesome that you guys get to help out that much. I assume it helps keep the costs down and you know everything is being done right/how you want it/well.

I wish I could say the same for my car when it was being worked on.

Haven't posted here in a while... I guess I have some catch-up to do!

Well, this is a bit of progress on the 122. Here is the motor, mated to the front crossmember and my rebuilt M41. Everything will go into the car as one unit.

Left door weather strips and glass installed:

Will do the right door this weekend.

And gauge bezel refurbished:

This is how horrible it used to look:

Rebuilt, powdercoated, and plated brake proportioning valves, mounted to a custom bracket:

That's it for now... next pictures should have the motor/trans in the car!

that looks AMAZING!!! keep it up!

I really like the crossmember and engine/trans... so your going to jack the car way up and slide everything in from underneath. Good idea so that you dont nick that pretty paint. I cant wait ti see it all together. This project is keeping my motivation up! For that I thank you...

Dash is in!

Went in smoothly. Biggest issue is fixing all the wiring problems caused by the previous owner.

Also had my machinist make me up these exhaust manifold spacers...

While we're at it, front brakes and suspension are complete:

Blackie is on the ground sitting on her own wheels. This is kind of a big deal for me!

Why did you get tires mounted before you painted the wheels red?

1. They're not going to be painted red.
2. The tires were already mounted to the wheels I bought.
3. My plan is to use these wheels/tires for a bit (car needs alignment, and I might have the clear shield put on the front end), but later on I'll dismount these tires get the wheels stripped, then powdercoated BLACK!

Ah, that makes sense. I can't wait to see the finished product!

In the middle of my 6-stage buffing party... three more stages to go.

Lot of work if you want black paint to look like wet glass.

I suggest that we take a photo shoot and send the pictures to SVAK (Svenska Volvo Amazon Klubben). I'm a member and they are really open to seeing what is going on in the US with Amazonen!
