I thought I was a bit on the crazy side for collecting more and more old Volvos.....that was until I received a note from my buddy that works for Skandix in Germany. Here is what Matthias sent to me. Now this guy is nuts!! I had a whole lot of questions for him as to how he manages all of these cars.

Dear Mark,
thanks for the pictures of your 220, great find! Do you have it running already?

I have a total 25 cars right now, I still ride the 62 T-Bird, just had it out for a cruise on Sunday!

Here is my current list:

1953 PV
1956 PV
1957 PV
1958 122
1958 Porsche
1960 Maserati
1961 122
1962 122
1962 T Bird
1962 P1800
1965 122
1966 P210
1967 Opel
1968 142
1969 164
1972 142
1976 244
1976 Saab 96
1977 244
1982 760
1983 Saab 99
1989 Porsche
1991 245
1992 245
1995 945

Just not enough time to run all of them every summer; all the best
Matthias

Here is a bit of follow-up on my friend Matthias' car collection. He has done quite a job of collecting cars on a working-class budget.

Dear mark,
indeed I have a mechanic taking care of the cars, I have one garage for 18 cars and garage in the bottom floor of my home;
the point is that I want to be able to use any car any time without having others cars standing in front. Most of the cars on my list are ready to be driven. In restoration process:

142, 1968
122, 1962
P1800, 1962
245, 1992 (for my wife)

All others are ready to ride. Meanwhile I am asking my wife before buying or selling a car, usually its ok with her as long as either she likes the car or knows that I can sell it anytime for more money than I have invested. She does not like the old original shape PV444, they are uncomfortable to ride and do smell rotten. But I can`t say no whenever I get a new offer for a good original one .....

You are right with the SU, they work perfect, once I had a PV444 where we put in a B18; we have just done the head, with large valves and grind it down to the minimum, rebuild the SU to competition specs and that car outran a Saab 9000 ....so you will have a lot of enjoyment for a handful Dollar!

all the best
Matthias

File comment: Matthias just got this one-owner car with less than 60k miles on it. He also picked up a tan colored one in the same shape.

WOW. Yeah, Matthias is crazy, it seems! He helped me get my Skandix/Simons sport exhaust for my 142 back in the day when they were first starting to import stuff. Cool guy.

Is that what I have now? Remember you sold me a 142 sport exhaust? It has IPD stickers on it though...

That red thing? No, that's not the Simons exhaust. The Simons just looks like a factory exhaust system but it has mandrel bent pipes and straight through, perforated core mufflers.
