Arrived in Portland April 27th with motorcycle in tow from Minnesota. Driving my rather heavily modified 84 242 B230 turbo.
I'm getting ready to Drive out to Beaverton tonight to meet other Volvo modders and my car breaks down. Under med-high load I heard a nasty "pop" or snapping bang of a noise possibly due to boost spike. The car then cut out as I coasted to the curb by Division and 12th St in SE. She turned over with no fire after that.

Looking for someone in the area to talk to who might have ideas or past experience to what may have happened.
When I get to a computer (on cellphone now) I'll post more details. As for now, I am just happy that I got here okay from MN, but am a little bummed that I will likely not be making the Davis meet.
Mo infoz comin' soon, and a thanks ahead of time for the Portland brickers wisdom out there.

As I said on the phone I've got a way to move it for the next day or so until my trailer goes out on loan Friday night till Saturday night.

Welcome to Portland by the way.

No problem. I'm glad Don found that there was no spark because the rotor broke. It's too bad that the pickup got broken as well. I would have really liked to see it start up with the zip tied rotor.

I might have a distributor you can have if you don't find one today. B230, 3-prong dist?

Picked up a "new" distributor and Don pulled the old distributor and dropped in the replacement. It fired right up. Looking at the replacement distributor there was a dust cover. If the old distributor had the same cover the broken parts of the rotor would not been able to wipe out the sensor and it would have only taken a new rotor to get back on the road. I think I will be double checking that I put my dust covers back in the future.
