This is relatively annoying and I'm not sure where to start as I get no codes. Maybe a relay I guess.

The fan seems to "click" on for a second then back off a second later. When it does the the RPM changes but only by 100rpm or so and not noticeable rev wise but tonal wise from the exhaust.

Just trying to figure out why its doing this so i can fix it.

My '96 850 did the same thing. The A/C needed a charge.

Would that explain why its only doing this when I turn the fans on from the climate control unit? IE when i turn the heater on it starts to do the clicking but if I have the unit set on 0 nothing happens?

If the climate unit has the A/C on or defrost on, it will try to run the compressor. If there isn't enough charge, the compressor will kick on/off.

Thats Correct! You should be able to unplug a relay until you can get the system charged.

Had the same problem with my silver one for a while. The defrost setting uses the A/C to remove the moisture from the air I think?!? But IIRC just turning off the A/C at the switch on the ECC prevented it from kicking on/off at any time (defrost or not) I never had to go as far as a relay.
